First post, where should I start?

“Summertime, when the livings easy”.. yeah right.

Since we have moved to this desert wasteland as I like to call it, I have slowly started to realize how much I miss living in a big city. There are absolutely zero activities for children here. With the scorching sun and highs near triple digits in the afternoon, outdoor time is limited. I have stocked up on crafts, play-doh, books and movies and only a week into summer vacation, I can already tell that this is going to be one for the books! I had originally envisioned a nice relaxing summer filled with cooking and road trips but I have to say that I don’t think that will be the case.

With my sillies so far apart in age, they fight constantly and I mean constantly. They fight over food, they fight over the computer and they mostly fight over who is in each others room. My big silly acts like she is practically a teenager and all of a sudden doesn’t want to hang with mom anymore. Her brother annoys her, everything is boring, why cant she have high heels.. I don’t remember being like that when I was 9, I’m pretty sure I was still playing with Barbies. Now its all about Beiber, Taylor Swift and makeover games on the computer.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that she is becoming more independent but if this phase we are going through is any indication of what the true teens will be like, I’m terrified. My son on the other hand is all boy.. which is something I’m still getting used to. From having only the big silly for so long and now raising a boy, it is like being a first time parent all over again. Last week he had asked me for a snack, it was too close to dinner time so I told him that he would have to wait. He was furious of course and stormed off to the playroom. I went to check on him a few minutes later and guess what he was doing? Eating his BOOGERS.. I told him that was something that we don’t do, its gross..etc. I then asked him why he was eating his boogers and do you know what his reply was??? “Because you wouldn’t feed me, I’m starving”….I was in tears laughing. I probably should have hid that fact that I found that so funny, but I just couldn’t help myself!!

On a completely different note, I really want a BirchBox! I used to be a subscriber last year but we moved so I cancelled and haven’t started it again BUT as soon as we close on our new house I’m ordering again. If you haven’t heard of BirchBox , here is the link http://www.birchbox.com/. For just $10 a month, they send a box that is filled with different samples of fragrance, lotions, nail polish..etc. Every month you get different samples, its pretty awesome. Its also so nice to get things like that in the mail, its like a surprise just for you every month!
